One in Every Corner at The Hawthorns: Four Life-Saving Defibrillators Installed
Friday 20th February 2026
Four defibrillators now stand at the four corners of The Hawthorns, helping West Bromwich Albion protect supporters and the wider community long after the final whistle.
We are incredibly proud to have brought #OneInEveryCorner to West Bromwich Albion, with four life-saving defibrillators now installed around the outside of The Hawthorns.
There is one positioned at each corner of the stadium and, importantly, all four are accessible 24 hours a day. That means they are there not only for the thousands of supporters walking through the gates on a matchday, but for people living, working and passing through the surrounding community every day of the year.
Lauren’s Legacy is the reason #OneInEveryCorner began and why we are on a mission to put one defibrillator in every corner of every stadium, but the installation at The Hawthorns also carries a deeply personal meaning for West Bromwich Albion.
Mark Townsend was a 57-year-old Birmingham Road End season-ticket holder who sadly passed away following a medical emergency while watching his beloved Albion away at Sheffield Wednesday in September 2024. West Brom later paid tribute to Mark at The Hawthorns, with players wearing black armbands and supporters joining a 57th-minute applause in his memory.
Mark’s story is a powerful reminder of exactly why this campaign matters. Medical emergencies can happen anywhere, at any ground, and access to life-saving equipment can never be taken for granted.
Each of the four defibrillators at The Hawthorns now carries a plaque in memory of both Lauren and Mark. To see their names together beside equipment designed to give someone else a fighting chance is incredibly poignant, and a reminder of why we will keep pushing until every club has #OneInEveryCorner.
Following Lauren’s passing, Tango was determined to turn her story into a legacy that could help save other lives. He joined forces with Sergio Petrucci MBE and Red Sky Foundation, bringing together Tango’s passion for football with Red Sky Foundation’s experience of putting life-saving defibrillators into communities across the UK.
Founded by Sergio and Emma Petrucci after their daughter Luna underwent life-saving heart surgery, Red Sky Foundation supports babies, children and adults living with heart conditions and has made public access to defibrillators a major part of its work. Together, Tango, Sergio and the Red Sky team are now taking that experience into football through #OneInEveryCorner.
When the defibrillators were installed, Tango summed up what #OneInEveryCorner means to us:
"It's a football fan's thing for football fans and the general public. We want to put something in place that can save people and save lives."
He also thanked the Albion supporters and everyone at the club who helped make the installation happen. That spirit is what has driven the campaign from the beginning.
We might wear different shirts. We might stand in different ends. For 90 minutes, rivalry is part of what makes football what it is. But when somebody collapses in the stand, outside the ground or in the surrounding community, none of that matters.
Only around one in ten people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, which is why rapid action is so important. Early CPR and access to a defibrillator can significantly improve somebody's chance of survival.
Defibrillators are also designed so that members of the public can use them. You do not need to be a doctor, paramedic or medical professional. The machine provides clear spoken instructions and will only deliver a shock if one is required. The challenge is making sure that equipment is close enough when it is needed.
This is something the team at Red Sky Foundation has been working to change for years. The charity provides public access defibrillators to communities, schools and other locations, working with local authorities, emergency services and organisations to make sure life-saving equipment is available when and where it is needed. #OneInEveryCorner takes that same mission into football stadiums across the country.
Our ambition does not stop at West Brom. We want every Premier League and EFL club in England to step up and help make life-saving defibrillators accessible around their stadium and surrounding community.
